At Minnesota Masonic Charities, few events are as highly anticipated as the Scholarships Reception. Every year, Minnesota Masonic Charities scholarship awardees gather with the program’s selection committee, MMC board members and family and friends to celebrate their achievement. In essence, it is a magical evening that brings together those who are leaving a legacy with those who are building one. This year was an especially competitive year, so those who earned an award were among the best and brightest in their respective schools.

Held June 14, this year’s reception was particularly charmed because it was the first held at the new Minnesota Masonic Heritage Center. Throughout the evening, Masonic Scholars and their families were able to tour the Center and its Masonic Museum and Lodge Room, providing those new to Freemasonry a finer appreciation of the Fraternity and its impact.

Kicking off the awards presentation in the Gideon S. Ives Auditorium, 2015 Signature Scholar Lucas Abbott (pictured below) welcomed the new class of Masonic Scholars. He also offered sage advice about taking full advantage of the opportunities in college that their scholarship award provides. After the presentation, WB Roger McNear, vice chairman of MMC’s Board of Directors, congratulated Heritage Scholarship awardee Caine Knuckles and his father (pictured above).

MMC Scholarship Program

High school seniors and undergraduate students who have earned their high school diploma from a Minnesota high school can apply for Minnesota Masonic Charities Scholarships. The program provides significant awards and can be renewed annually. In total, Minnesota Masonic Charities awards 95 new scholarships and funds roughly $1 million in scholarships each year. This generosity makes MMC one of the largest scholarship grant makers in the state. MMC accepts applications for the next school year November 1 through February 15.
